Union-Endorsed Candidates Advance

Union-Endorsed Candidates Advance

Mark Ridley-Thomas for LA County Board of Supervisors, Norma Torres for Assembly District 61 and Carole Lutness for Assembly District 38 were three union-endorsed candidates who won in the June 3 primary and will face opponents in November. We must redouble our efforts to get these labor warriors elected.

Mark Ridley-Thomas for County Supervisor, District 2
Although Mark Ridley-Thomas did not win the County Board of Supervisors race outright in the  June 3 primary, he was the top vote getter and that’s why we need to redouble our efforts to make sure he gets elected this November.  Turnout should be much larger given it’s the presidential race so please volunteer to do some canvassing and/or phone banking in the coming weeks whether you live in District 2 or not.  Ridley-Thomas will fight for our interest on the County Board of Supervisors as it’s important we maintain a majority who understands the working person’s needs.  We will get information to you about how to volunteer in the new labor campaign, once it is operational.

We are also pleased that union-endorsed, Local 3090 member Norma Torres (Mayor of Pomona) won the Democratic nomination in the June primary for Assembly District 61A second AFSCME member, Carole Lutness also won the Democratic primary for Assembly District 38.  Like in the Ridley-Thomas election, canvassing and phone banking will make the difference in winning their races in November.
