Trash TalkHello, my name is Jeanette Argentin, South Bay Coordinator for AFSCME Local 3090.

I will be writing an environmental blog called "Trash Talk" on the Union’s website on various environmental topics as well as handy tips for recycling, saving energy as well as money, and helping to preserve the planet for the next generation.

Let’s start off with how to obtain basic recycling service at your residence if you’re currently not enjoying it.

  • Do you live in an apartment, condo, town home, or mobile home in the City of Los Angeles?

  • Does your condo, apartment, or town home consist of 5 or more units?

  • Would you like FREE recycling services?

If you answered yes, please call (800) 773-2489 to enroll for the free recycling service provided by the City of L.A. Dept. of Public Works. Blue bins, educational material, and weekly recycling service will be provided.

Now you don’t have to schlep all your recycling containers including junk mail and newspapers to work to recycle. One phone call puts your schlepping days behind you, while helping the environment and being part of the solution in cutting down the amount of materials going into the already overflowing landfills.
