Your Old Cell Phones Can Help a Victim of Domestic Violence Donate to City of LA’s Collection Drive Oct. 10 – Nov. 10
The City of Los Angeles is teaming up with Verizon Wireless to help raise money for victims of domestic violence by using your old cell phones.
Drop your recycled wireless phones, accessories and equipment in the marked HopeLine box at any City Council Office or District Field Office.* from Oct. 10 to Nov. 10. Verizon Wireless and the City’s Domestic Violence Task Force are collecting wireless phones and accessories, regardless of service provider, manufacturer, model or technology.
The used phone will be refurbished or recycled. The refurbished phones are sold, and Verizon Wireless uses the proceeds from the sale of any donated phone to provide wireless phones and grants to local shelters and non-profit organizations that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness.
Please DO NOT turn in City issued cell phones, accessories and equipment. Remove all data and cancel service prior to turning in your wireless phones.
Domestic violence affects all of us – men, women and children, regardless of ethnicity, socio-economic level, age or race. Access to a wireless phone and technology can serve as a vital link to emergency or support services in a time of crisis, or as a reliable, safe connection to family, friends and employers. For questions about the collection drive, please call (213) 744-9311.
